It might be hard to explain to others why he does what he does, but Jeremy Teach is very good at his job and he knows it. He keeps vamps happy and safe from a blood lust that could easily tear them apart.
Not often does Wallace Hamilton allow himself to reach the point of no return, but when it happens he knows where to turn. Unfortunately his undead heart has found itself falling hard for a boy who has no intention of changing vocations.
Jeremy is not sure exactly how it happened but Wallace, formerly known to him as Frank, has set up residence in his life. They met when “Frank” needed a body to slake the blood lust, but even then Jeremy knew there was something very different about this vamp. Wallace wants a relationship with Jeremy outside of the brothel, but the more he learns of Jeremy’s past, the more their future becomes uncertain. Wallace is holding back a huge part of himself, and when that piece comes to light, Jeremy is stunned, sickened, and ashamed by the feelings he has for a man he should hate.
I began this read with the feeling it was going to be just one more in a long line of vamp seduces human stories, with lots of hot sex but very little substance, and boy did that change. The hot sex is still there, but it comes in small bursts in relation to the real meat of this story. Wallace is NOT your average vamp, and you almost have a love/hate thing going every time he opens his smart mouth, but then his soft heart gets you right back on his side. No wonder poor Jeremy is confused and conflicted, although there is never any doubt he is loved.
