When she was cast out from her family, Silvia was only six years old, and the hurt from that betrayal has never left her heart. She, along with eleven other girls, went into service for Vesta, Goddess of Fire, but what was to last for only three decades, has endured for hundreds of years.
The love for his work in the Forum keeps Lord Bastian Satyr sane most days, but during Moonful, his ElseWorld side takes full command. The lustful urgings will not be denied, and to have a Vestal companion like Michaela in his bed is exactly what his inner beast craves.
Silvia and Michaela have been best friends since the first day of their induction, but to watch Michaela shed her ephemeral self for a man stirs very conflicting emotions for Silvia. She would love nothing more than to experience the kind of love, passion, and happiness that Michaela professes, especially for Bastian, but she knows it is up to her to free their Vestal sisters from a monster. Bastian can sense a shift in the world around him, and knows Michaela has some part in it, but finding the real source of his wonderment is quickly becoming an obsession. He feels the spirit that has captured his interest and possibly his heart is most likely female, but how does one go about capturing a specter and very probably a thief?
Turning an ancient Roman archeological dig into a backdrop for a fiercely passionate and suspenseful love story is done exquisitely by Ms. Amber. Her characters are ever changing, and full of hidden depths that are so rarely found in erotic romance. And though there are plenty of sensual encounters throughout this book, with Silvia and Bastian you are very aware that there is so much more at play. The couplings involve both sexes, and at times in same sex combinations, but you never lose sight of where the heart lies, or who it belongs to.
