At the tender age of sixteen, Penny Hayden found herself having a major crush on nineteen year old Sam Roberts. After he broke her heart, she vowed that someone as insensitive as him was not worth loving.

Nine years has passed since Sam made a huge error in dealing with Penny’s tender heart. Convinced to check up on her, he does not expect the reaction he gets.

After she got over the initial shock of seeing Sam again, Penny finds herself just as attracted to him as she was as a teenager. When a gang member threatens Sam by making threats against Penny, he vows to protect her anyway he can. When Sam gets hurt, Penny realizes how much she has come to care for the sexy man. But can he get over his own insecurities and find out that she is the woman for him?

A Vow to Love starts out so funny from the first page that I could not stop laughing. Once I got further into the book, I found Ms. Woods’ cadence changed and became more serious and heartwarming. I thought Penny’s naiveté was a little unreal but somehow fit her character. Sam brings a roughness to the storyline, giving it an almost yin and yang feeling. This is a good read and will leave you with a nice and warm feeling.
