Moira has bitterness in her heart. At a very young age, her village and family were slaughtered based on a vision of a man known as the Seer. As the sole survivor, Moira swore to devote her life to finding the man and paying him back for her loss no matter what the cost…even her own life if needed.
Connor has the ability to see the past, present or future. This is a gift he gained at the age of seven. He has used his gift for ill means. When Diarmid summons him to be the Seer, Connor goes readily as he only sees the wealth and protection he will gain. Little does he realize that Diarmid, Lord of the Isles, is using him.
Moira’s plan to destroy the Seer is on track when she offers her body to him. Connor feels something more with Moira than with the other women, but she steals away into the night. She attacks Connor when he is at his most vulnerable, just after he has had a vision. With death in her vision, she attempts to kill the man who sent the soldiers to kill her family. When she fails and is forced to be Diarmid’s prisoner, Connor comes to her defense. This wildcat may hold the information he is looking for concerning his past. She brings an insight to him that breaks his heart. Can your arch-enemy also be your soul mate?
A story set in medieval Scotland brings images to my mind that warms my soul. These characters are heartbreaking in so many ways. Moira endures so much and is so bitter. Connor is so arrogant and blind to the things going on around him. When these two people actually spend time together, they both see their situations with such clarity. They are not really as different as they originally thought. I was so drawn into the story. Between the action, the drama, the passion and the steamy sex scenes, it is really hard to avoid it. Ms. Brisbin creates such a complex story and I adored it. I am looking forward to the next two books in this trilogy.
