Haley was a street kid, running drugs for a local dealer. She was taken in by Chase and trained to be a master thief for a crime organization, but the powers that be want changes she is reluctant to enact.
Shane is an undercover cop sent to infiltrate the organization that employs Haley. He is to get close to Haley, but never expects the feelings she brings out in him.
Master thief Haley is about to be promoted in the organization, but she has to kill Chase, who has been like a father to her to move up and to survive. Everyone she loves dies, and it seems Chase is no exception. The man hired to replace her former lover is not what he seems. The head of the organization is a confusing mix of charm and evil, but he is the man who ordered Chase’s murder, and Haley is determined to bring him down or die trying.
This is a very exciting story and the suspense never lets up. The author has created a tense atmosphere that only gets more edgy as the story builds. No one is who he seems except Haley, and she does not know who to trust though she loves Shane. Devin, the drug lord, wants her body and soul. The characters are vivid and unique and the author’s descriptions of them and the settings make the story easy to visualize, particularly the interior of Shane’s house. I cannot get the image of the engine on the dining room table out of my mind. If you like suspenseful love stories with inventive plots and memorable characters, this is just the thing for you.
