Winnie is determined to become a great photographer. She is leaving New York for Paris to take pictures of the war zone.
Henry is one of the soldiers who are fighting. After losing his fiancée when the Titanic sank, he knew it would have to be a special woman to claim his heart.
Winnie, told not to look for love as it was only in romance books, is determined to keep her life simple while she reaches for her goal. But Henry is just as resolved to get Winnie’s heart. They find themselves falling in love during a time when there is a chance Henry could die fighting. They never expected it to be someone else who would stand in the way of their love.
A soldier’s Vow is a tale set during WWII in Paris. Ms. Smith shows us great detail and leaves us with a vivid picture. I found Winnie to be a little too weepy for my taste and it was hard to swallow her characteristics. Henry came across as a man who felt honor and pride in his duty as he fought for justice. This is a nice story but I would not read it a second time as I found it to be good but not spectacular.
