NYPD Detective Ellie Hatcher has only been on the homicide squad for one week when a new case falls at her feet. She was not expecting a murder to replace the usual scenery that she and her brother jogged at least five times a week.
Her partner, Jeffrey James Rogan,(also known as J.J.) arrives after she calls him in. What they have found is a college girl on spring break whose party ended sooner than she expected.
Now J.J. and Ellie are on the hunt for a killer, and finding him seems to be all too easy as the clues point to one suspect. But even though she is a new homicide detective, Ellie has a gut feeling that some cold case files can shed new light on this otherwise open and shut case. The other officers in the precinct are not sure how to handle their newest member, but J.J. knows that she is a good cop and trusting her instincts may be the best option. Will Ellie and J.J. get to the killer in time before he strikes again?
Ms. Burke takes the reader on a wild ride full of mystery, police procedures, adventure, a hint of romance, and non-stop action. While Angel’s Tip is part of the Ellie Hatcher series, plenty of information is shed from previous books to allow the reader to understand who the characters are and what is going on. I love how Ellie comes across not as a hard-nosed, bitter detective, but a cop with a softer side who feels other people’s pain. Most times I can read a mystery and guess who did the crime, but this tale had me in suspense until the very end and was a shocker at that! The fact that Ellie has some powerful deductive skills makes this already great book very gripping and will definitely keep anyone on edge.
