Virtually nothing about living in an abbey could prepare Annabelle Withram for what the duties of a laird’'s wife may entail. She fears this will only be one more in a long list of her continual failures.
Finally having his keep in order, Ross MacKay feels it is time to claim his bride. While his men commiserate the sad state of Ross taking an English bride, Ross only hopes she is easy enough to get along with.
The journey from Waverly to MacKay is not an easy one, although Ross could not be happier with his new bride. Her bright spirit and boundless enthusiasm charms everyone, which for him only enhances the curvaceous beauty on her outside. Ross is such a wonderful man that Annabelle hates imagining what her life would be like without him, which may still happen when he realizes how inept she really is. The random attacks on Annabelle are really beginning to scare Ross, for each day they are together only shows him how dreadful his life would be without her.
Annabelle is a wonderful surprise! Her kindness and caring illuminate the pages while the heat between her and Ross set them on fire. With Annabelle’'s upbringing you almost expect a frigid shrew, but she is completely the opposite. She and Ross are incredibly fun, while the plot has enough depth and drama to make it all come together for the reader.
