KELLI A WILKINS
Amber Quill Press
Erotic romance/historical/fantasy setting
Rating: 2 Cups
Annabelle loves her new husband Julian. After awakening her sexuality, at Sabrina and Vincent’s Midsummer Night‘s Delights, she and Julian enjoy themselves too much, with too many unacceptable people, in front to too many people.
Julian loves exploring their sexuality more and more, but his father is in social ruins, and has cut off his son and new bride. Sending Julian and Annabelle back to Sabrina and Vincent’s is an attempt to save them.
Not knowing what to expect and not understanding why people are so upset, the couple travel to attend the Midwinter’s Night’s Delights Ball. When they arrive, Julian and Annabelle find they must learn carnal discipline, again under the tutelage of Vincent and Sabrina. The couple is eager and willing participants, at first, and then they begin to question all they had come to believe about sexuality.
A Midwinter Night’s Delights the sequel to A Midsummer Night’s Delights, is dedicated to sex, and the writer, Ms Wilkins, felt concern for her characters and how they evolve. The dialogue is good, and there are enough secondary characters to support the plotline. Unfortunately, for great deal of the book, Julian and Annabelle come off as selfish, whiny, and not all that bright. Most of the sex is interesting, very hot, and creative as all get out, and that saves the book; but some of the scenes show a woman who stopped caring what was sexually done to her and accepted being demeaned. Luckily the ending redeemed the book and made me glad I finished.
