Eleanor Collins only goes to her sister’s coming out in the city in the hopes of protecting her from whatever devious plot her neglectful father has in store for her. She had her own turn a few years before, but it ended after one short Season and— since her heart was at the time elsewhere—it did not result in matrimony. With her sweet and beautiful sister in tow, she spins into elevated social circles where rakes and gamesters swim like sharks out for her sibling’s blood.
Sebastian Dodd, Viscount of Benton, is seeking revenge, a dish that he didn’t plan to serve cold. But the unsuspecting Collins, who ruined of his mother’s life, seems to have made this Season even easier for hunting by bringing his lovely daughter to Town. A simple plot— soil the dove to bring her father to a duel in her honor— is thwarted by the dove in question’s elder and plainer sister. But is there more than meets the eye with the dowdy dressed chaperone…
When the rake shifts his delicious attention to the seduction of the elder Collins sibling, neither expects the passion that engulfs them and leaves them trembling in its wake. Will lies and pain of the past destroy the budding love that simmers between them? Or will they find a romance that is A Little Bit Sinful?
Although the tale of rake and dowdy spinster has been told before, Basso brings it to new life with a leading female not afraid to touch when fiery need is kindled by the dashing and rogue lord. Tenderness is captured alongside the needy lust, leaving you really feel a multi-layered connection between these poignant characters. From Sebastian’s great devotion to family to his guilt, he is a believable and lovable hero and a perfect match for the cautious yet feisty Eleanor.
