A HIGHLAND DUCHESS
Avon, an imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers
Rating: 3 Cups
Emma, Duchess of Herridge was in a nightmare of a marriage where she was told to do unspeakable acts of hedonistic nature. After her husband died, she hoped that she could now live a life of freedom, but it was not to be.
Ian McNair is looking for a particular mirror but when he gets caught in a certain duchess’ room, he does the only thing possible. Kidnapping Emma seemed like a good plan at the time, but once he got her back to his home the erotic thoughts he has for the beautiful duchess make it all the harder to let her go.
Once Emma is back from Ian’s place, she is informed by her Uncle that she will marry again whether she likes it or not. But she never expects the bridegroom to be someone who has ties to Ian, the man she has come to love. When her second husband falls ill due to suspicious circumstances, she will need Ian’s help in finding out what has happened to him. Now her second husband is in the hands of the man she loves, a man who she wishes with all of her heart could truly be hers.
A Highland Duchess was a good read. Ms. Ranney brings us a character that has risen from the depths of depravity and despair to become a strong woman who has had to overcome some horrendous obstacles. Ian is a man who has honor and integrity throughout his whole body and will have the reader pulling for him. The twists and turns within the pages are many, leaving the reader with a complicated puzzle that comes together at the end. Very well done.
