Receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross is one of the highest honors for any Air Force pilot, but Major Chase Carden refuses to believe he deserves it. Good men and women died because of him, and no piece of metal will ever ease the pain of his complicity in their deaths.
She grew up at the feet of an Air Force flyboy, and Captain Sabrina McAllister has no intention of reliving that hell with another man. Above all else, she craves order and stability in her career and in her life, but when Chase waltzes back into her life, her cravings take on a much wilder flare.
Chase and Sabrina’s wedding is only supposed to be a joke, but a smidge too much alcohol and some seriously over-active hormones prevent them from noticing that they are signing a real marriage license. Sabrina has been sitting on this knowledge for almost a year, but there was no way she was going to tell Chase while he was in Iraq. Chase returns home from war a changed man, but the one constant is his need to see Sabrina again. The Air Force wants to honor him, a bereaved father wants to condemn him, and all he wants is the wife who is trying desperately to get rid of him.
There is nothing quite like a man in uniform, but with Major Carden, be ready to soar. He has it all: pride, power, and the perfect balance of cockiness and humility, not to mention enough sex appeal for ten men. I really love how he does not back down in the face of Sabrina’s fears, and yet he allows her the space to come to her own realizations. Her reticence to share herself with him is troubling, but the heart of the story pulls you in and refuses to let go.
