A FAMILY AFFAIR
The Wild Rose Press
Rating: 4 Cups
Francesca is not the most beautiful girl coming out this season, but she is the wealthiest and best connected. She has a loving and protective family, and they are doing their best to keep the fortune hunters away.
Devlin Ross may be a duke, but his horrible childhood makes him reluctant to get married. He is one of the biggest prizes on the Marriage Mart, and he is determined to stay unattached.
Francesca, Fanny to family and close friends, is excited about her first Season. In order to avoid a girl she particularly dislikes, she ends up alone on a dark terrace and is unable to rejoin the ball without detection, especially after literally running into her Uncle Rake’s handsome best friend, Devlin Ross. He is even more handsome than at age eighteen, when five-year-old Fanny proposed to him. Their path to love will be anything but smooth.
This is a very well-written Regency tale. The characters are so vivid. They seem about to walk right off the page. Fanny and Devlin are complex and fully developed characters with some interesting quirks. The plot is full of suspense, action as well as romance, with a few interesting twists that will keep the reader on her toes. I look forward to reading more about the Royal family in the future.
