A COWBOY & A GENTLEMAN
Rating: 4 Cups
Annie DeSimone is the new veterinarian in town. Divorced with a painful past, she moved to the small town of Bakersville, Colorado to start over.
Dallas McCray is also divorced and wishes he could find a woman like his sister-in-law; a country girl, happy to take care of her home and family—not a deceitful brat. He is a man who learns from his mistakes, and he never makes the same mistake twice.
When Annie and Dallas meet, they share instant attraction and chemistry. They both forget their rules of dating and spend the weekend together. At the end of the weekend, Dallas learns something new about Annie that reminds him too much of his ex. He ends their relationship with no explanation, vowing not to repeat past mistakes. Unfortunately, their attraction remains constant, and when Annie tries to tell him about her past, he pushes her away.
I really enjoyed A Cowboy & A Gentleman! A yummy cowboy and a saucy Jersey girl make up this fun couple and their chemistry is easy to believe. Both divorced, they each have pasts that they must overcome in order to move forward and love again. It was easy to cheer for both of them, even when they did not act exactly the way I wanted them to. The small town setting of Bakersville adds to this book’s appeal. Be warned, this book contains a flashback scene of detailed physical and sexual abuse. It is necessary to move the story forward, but the only warning for “adult language and scenes” is inside the book.
