It is full steam ahead for Cara Cranshaw when her candidate is elected to the office of the President of the United States. Cara is a PR specialist in the White House press office, so her life cannot include a torrid romance with a reporter like Max Gray, who specializes in digging up news guaranteed to end political careers.
Reporter Max Gray knows how to get his hands dirty while chasing down sensational news. His news show has made him one of the country’s hottest bachelors. Unfortunately, the only woman Max wants is the one who does not want him back.
Now Cara and Max are researching opposite sides of a story that has the President scrambling for a foothold with the American people. Cara knows she cannot let Max get too close. He is not a family man, and Cara is keeping a secret nine months in the making. Will their jobs tear them apart forever, or will they discover that middle ground really does exist?
This quick story is set against the interesting backdrop of Washington D.C.’s high-powered political games. Though the main characters are interesting and engaging, the actual mystery that plagues the Presidential Administration is never resolved in this book. Considering this appears to be the first in a new Harlequin line, I can only hope there is a big reveal ahead somewhere, or readers may be left scratching their heads.
