FBI agent Ryan Burton was in the army before he entered the FBI. He is on a mission to locate a missing woman who had been in the Witness Protection Program. She must be found before another threat is made on her life.

Britta Jakobsen fingered a bad guy for the FBI six months ago, and was placed in their protection program. After reporting for a job as a housekeeper at the inn in Raven's Cliff, she disappears, only to awake later in a hospital with no recollection of anything.

It had been said that Raven Cliff was cursed many years ago and the seaside town has heard much about the danger that lingers nearby. When Britta cannot be found for four days, some believe it has to do with the curse, but Ryan thinks otherwise. He has to find her. She means more to him than just a material witness. Deep down, he really cares for Britta. He finds her practically in a hypnotic trance just before she falls into his arms. He learns she was injected with a paralyzing drug and has suffered memory loss. With her memory loss, Ryan knows she cannot remember how he broke her heart. Britta must trust Ryan and allow him to keep her safe from the person wishing her harm. For three years Ryan has been working gang-related crimes. Marriage is not something he considers, but being around Britta could change his mind. Will Britta feel safe when she does regain her memory or will she wish Ryan out of her life?

With the Material Witness in the Safehouse is a sweet romantic read. It is filled with danger and passion that surrounds the characters. Ryan's and Britta's wide-range of emotions capture the reader in a vise and do not release until the last page. This well-written story is captivating and brought me not only into the center of the story but the lives of the characters, and I hated to say good-bye. Carla Cassidy weaves a great story where the players connect with the audience and the effects are thrilling. The chemistry between Ryan and Britta is unique and makes the read quite entertaining.
