Jade Delarue wants to find her dream man. She decides to conjure up a spell to help her, knowing if she doubts herself it will never work. The spell proves fruitful when a handsome man arrives at her door.
The furthest thing on Mason Kincaid’s mind is falling in love. After being stood up at his wedding, the private detective could care less if he sees another woman again.
Mason cannot believe that after all he did for Brenda she gets pregnant by another man, leaves him with some wedding bills, and strands him at the altar. Trying to force it behind him, he heads out on a case. Jade dug Mystic Manor out of its financial quagmire after her parents passed the home to her. Annie and Courtney, her good friends, are a huge help. She lives and breathes witchcraft, practicing it on the side. Mason is there on business, doing his own investigation. He is certain Jade had something to do with her husband’s disappearance. Three husbands are missing, hers, and those of her two best friends, and husbands do not go missing without a trace. By staying at the B & B, he can only hope to uncover any missing pieces. Unfortunately, Jade realizes the mistake she has made with her spell and has to find a way to send Mason back, packing, but a nasty snowstorm causes a delay in her plans. Mason begins to see Jade for her real self and feels he could have been a bit harsh. She could be just the one woman that has captured his heart but proving that could take some work. He finds it hard to breathe without her or wake in the mornings without her by his side. When he learns her little secret, Jade has to make sure he does not tell anyone, no matter what action she has to take.
Witch in the House is enchanting, magical and awe-inspiring. I found Jade to not only be spirited, but quite likeable. I love the camaraderie that she shares with Mason. I could almost visualize the whole wedding scene with Mason. Brenda really did a number on him. I could tell he was deeply hurt. I do not know how Jenna McKnight does it but every time she creates a story it really grabs me! This one is no exception. With refreshing characters, good friends, and a delicious plot, this is one entertaining read. She has two more stories coming soon with Annie’s and Courtney’s story, in this series, and I can hardly wait to read them. I absolutely fell in love with Jade and Mason in this rare and enticing tale.
