Freya Daly works with Daly Developers, Incorporated; her father being her boss. She is looking to purchase land when she heads to Deer Creek, making it a little vacation, too. Freya is a spirited, intelligent businesswoman but this trip shows a different side to her.

Nate Brody is anxious to sell the campground left him by his father. He wants to return to Cincinnati where he was a five-star chef. Trying to run the campground, while taking care of an eleven-year-old daughter, can be a handful.

Freya agrees to conduct a little business when she heads to Deer Creek. Always the one to handle tough negotiations, once she arrives the town really does not seem to offer much. All she views is a dilapidated campground, but meeting the proprietor, Nate, along with his daughter, Piper, proves to turn into a delightful experience, bringing out the kid in her. Piper's mother left when she was a baby, and she and her dad get along great. She finds a friend in Freya and they form a loving bond. Freya had forgotten what it was like being young again and just letting loose. It was the best medicine, since of late; all she did was cry. Piper does not wish to move back to Cincinnati but sometimes a child does not have much say so in matters. With Freya, Nate and Piper make a strong connection, can they get past the obstacles to form a solid family?

Lani Diane Rich is a wonderful storyteller who brings breathtaking characters to life in Wish You Were Here. She instills a twinge of mystery that makes the story even more interesting. I love the addition of Piper who really knows how to make a person want to be a kid again. I found this romance not just about Nate and Freya, but with Piper, also, since she is an important member of the family. Freya is likeable and not afraid to admit her faults. Nate is a loving father who cherishes Piper very deeply. The backdrop was created so lovely I wanted to get in my car and take a drive to it. This is an enchanting read that leaves a smile on the face and a song in the heart.
