Becca is a single (widowed before her divorce was final) woman who lives alone with her dog. The one love of her life dumped her sixteen years before and never knew she was pregnant. She suspects he was still in love with his ex-girlfriend Jessie, who disappeared without a trace twenty years ago.
Hudson always regretted the way he ended things with Becca all those years ago and thinks of her often. The discovery of an unidentified skeleton has brought her back into his life, and he does not intend to let her go this time.
Twenty years ago, Jessica Brentwood disappeared. Though she had a history of running away, those closest to her always wondered what happened to her. Now, a skeleton has turned up on the campus of her old high school and the detective who was on the case is back and trying to find out which of Jessie’s high school friends was responsible for her death. Most of the gang have secrets that they do not want brought to light, and the killer is just waiting to strike again.
All I can say about this book is wow! I cannot tell you which part I liked better, the suspense plot line or the romance. I loved how Becca and Hudson reconnected after so many years, and the chemistry between the two is very intense. The investigation of the murder of Jessie is absolutely riveting, with many possibilities for the culprit’s identity. The paranormal elements of the story really make it stand out among other offerings in this genre. This is an exciting story that I could not put down, the authors told a wonderful story and really allowed the reader to get into the minds of not only the murderer, but the victim and the main characters of the novel.
