Alana James was alone in the world. Her parents were dead and she had no siblings. She had her friend Jackie, but because of her unusual powers she felt she could never really trust people. She owned a little magic store in New Orleans, and was trying to live her life peacefully and quietly, for what ever time she had left on this Earth. Alana had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and was slowly slipping from this plane of reality into the next.

Christopher was known as Lord Christopher Devereaux in 1506, but in the modern world he was known as Christopher Demonte. His has a lonely existence; except for his faithful friend, he has no one. He was born in the late 1400s and reborn in 1506 as a vampire. He hates his sire, Mason, and wants nothing to do with the crazed vampire. In fact other then Marco, Christopher kept to himself until he met Alana.

Christopher could not watch Alana die so he did the one thing he swore he would never do. He changed her from a mortal woman into an immortal vampire. But what Alana and Christopher did not know was Mason wants Christopher dead and Alana’s witch powers for himself. With a battle brewing over Alana, Christopher tries to protect her from the evil of Mason. But will it be Alana or Christopher that protects them both from the evil demon that has possessed Mason?

This story is a wonderful love story, with a passable action story mixed into it. Over all this was a nice read, but was a bit unbelievable how easily Alana accepted her transformation from human to Vampire. The characters and locations in the book were well written. The over all story was a bit slow for my tastes. This story is a nice read when you have some spare time on a rainy day.
