Ellen Simpson has been happily married to her husband for five years despite their unfavorable living conditions – war torn Europe. Ellen’s husband, Charlie, is a captain in the British army fighting against Napoleon's French forces.
Dominic, Lieutenant Lord Eden, is Charlie’s best friend. He is unmarried and his family lives in England so Dominic spends much time with Charlie and Ellen and becomes fast friends with both of them.
Charlie and Ellen are viewed by everyone as a most unlikely pair. Ellen is young and beautiful and Charlie is older, balding, and a bit rotund. Still it is obvious that Ellen loves him deeply. When tragedy hits, Dominic and Ellen become even closer by finding comfort in one another, which quickly leads to more than friendship.
Ms. Balogh has composed yet another romantic masterpiece. With such fantastic characters you cannot help but yearn for them to be together. The action is exhilarating and romance intoxicating. Along with Dominic’s family and Ellen’s stepdaughter, Jennifer, the reader feels like a part of the family. Through the author’s exceptional writing, Ellen’s and Dominic's emotions of pain, guilt, happiness, and passion are deeply felt to the reader. Web of Love is an absolute splendid historical romance.
