Judith McMonigle Flynn is owner of the Hillside Manor Bed and Breakfast. She tries to keep everything running smoothly for her guests until Vivian returns to the cul-de-sac, and things become a bit chaotic, as Judith soon plunges into a murder investigation.

Vivian Flynn was married to Potsy Buss, for ten happy months of her life. Now returning to Hillside, she brings new husband, Billy Buss, a former baseball player from Oklahoma, and son of Potsy. What surprises her neighbors the most is Billy is thirty years younger than she and with the death of Potsy, Vivian has inherited everything.

Judith is enjoying a peaceful day until hurricane Vivian blows back into town and things turn into a disaster. Not only is Vivian married to a much younger man but she is talking about building a condo around their homes. This does not sit well with Judith or the other residents. To create an even more debacle, Billy’s brother, Frankie and his wife arrive. Frankie is upset that his deceased father, Potsy, left his inheritance to Vivian and wishes to work out a deal with her. The Oklahoma rancher was only married to Vivian for ten months, why should she inherit all the wealth? After a dead body is found in Vivian’s backyard, things get heated. Judith enters into her own investigating, determined no matter what the odds, she intends to find answers and save her dear Bed & Breakfast.

Vi Agra Falls is a laid-back mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed. It is loaded with fast-pace action, and characters that continue to come out of the woodwork. It seems no sooner than one door closes, another opens with a fiasco of events that keep not only the residents in the Heraldsgate Hill on their toes, but the reader as well. Vivian is quite a character with the men in her life. Mary Daheim keeps Judith active in this latest installment of her mystery series. I have to admit Judith comes up against some screwballs in her search for answers, but with every step she takes in her investigation, she really makes this story cozy and well worth the read.
