Renata has never belonged anywhere, or felt love for anyone but the little girl she protects at the vampire compound. Thrown away as a baby, and later by the orphanage, she has survived one hell after another to become the strong woman she is today. Her psychic gifts and Breedmate status make her valuable to the Gen One vampire who holds her and her little friend hostage.
Nikolai is a powerful member of The Order and was sent to Canada to warn another powerful vampire of a possible assassination attempt. A little girl with prophetic eyes shows him a future with a woman, something he never thought possible. He just has to protect them both.
Someone is systematically eliminating the first generation of vampires, the most powerful. The members of the order are trying to save the ones who are left. Nikolai is sent to Canada to warn Sergei Yakut, and finds the vampire is keeping mind slaves and running a blood club. He can not quite figure out Renata’s place in this mess or her connection to the little girl, but he is drawn to the female warrior as never before.
This is one engrossing series, and once I pick one up I cannot put it down until the last page. Nikolai and Renata are both strong but damaged heroes and little Mira steals every scene she appears in. The author has packed this book with spine tingling suspense, great action scenes and sizzling romance. I was looking forward to Nikolai’s story and was not disappointed.
