Danalia is a young girl who stumbles into another world one night. The royal palace is a long way from the hovel she shares with her browbeaten mother and brutal father and brothers.
Drayman is a prince of the vampires and considers himself far above humans. They are nothing more than a food source to him, until he meets Danalia.
A poor young girl and a vampire prince find each other and make love. Though they come from separate worlds, they make a connection that they cannot deny.
The author has created an oppressive world where vampires rule over humans. The characters are a little flat and not very likeable; some of them are actually cruel. Danalia is the perfect victim and martyr. The prose is very descriptive, so much so that it overpowers the story. The overall atmosphere and plot line were much too depressing for me. The setting was also confusing; the author could not seem to decide whether she was in medieval or modern times. The story has potential but seems overworked.
