Elegance St. James, Countess of Lanshire, ‘Ella’, has an aura about her that can bewitch any man. Even though the lovely widow would like to have a child, at the moment, finding a man, is the least important agenda on her mind.

Thomas Donovan is a man of secrets. Even though he is not one of naval excellence, he has spent many years out at sea. He wonders what people see in him, a harsh man, hard used and bone weary, or the elegant newly knighted hero.

Ella has absolutely no desire to be burdened with a husband again. There are other pressing issues at hand, like the sudden disappearance of a good friend. After being almost attacked by two terrible thugs, she is saved by a handsome hero. One look at her and Thomas is mesmerized. Ella is grateful he came to her rescue. Thomas finds her tall, willowy and absolutely stunning. He wishes to learn more about the gracious Ella, who enjoys flowers, dancing and reading poetry in front of a fire. Her compassionate sister, Madeline, who Ella believes is the loveliest sister, is the only family she has left. As Ella and Thomas embark on a kindling romance, both have secrets, neither are willing to share. Ella gets a strange feeling she is being watched. Can they both open up and trust each other enough to confess their secrets when evil lurks around the corner for Ella?

Under Your Spell is a sweet romantic read. Even though there is a blend of mystery and suspense, the on-going friendship of Madeline and Thomas that leads to more, is beautifully told. I love the spirit of Ella and the smoldering passion that lingers with Thomas when they are together. My heart went out to Thomas and the way he grew up with concerns about his father. Lois Greiman knows how to attract her audience. She tells a splendid story with much ambience, and rich characters that pull the reader into the whole turn of events. This lovely treasure will make the reader want more.
