Skye is a survivor. Four years ago she not only survived an attempted rape, but managed to stab her attacker and help put him behind bars. She is now a victim’s advocate working for a group called The Last Stand.

Detective David Willis was in charge of Skye’s case and he cannot forget the beautiful woman. He is unfortunately tied to his ex-wife. He no longer loves her, but she is becoming increasingly unstable since being diagnosed with MS and their son is the most important thing in his life.

Skye thought that the monster who attacked her four years before would be spending a long time in prison, but he is being released after only three years. Detective Willis is certain that Oliver Burke raped and murdered three other women, but has not been able to prove it. Burke wants revenge on the woman who put him behind bars, and it is up to Willis to help keep the woman he cannot forget alive.

This gripping suspense novel will have you at the edge of your seat from beginning to end. I bit off more than one nail while reading the story. Skye is a phenomenal woman who remade herself after her attack. She is a little obsessed with her weaponry, but has an excuse. The other two women from The Last Stand are vivid characters also. I could not decide how I felt about David; he is a good person, but very unfair to Skye, leading her on, then going back to his wife who is a very unappealing character. Oliver is a truly evil villain hiding behind an ordinary face. The author does a really good job describing the family’s reaction to his arrest and conviction. The plot is suspenseful and exciting with a very satisfying ending.
