Eliza Scoggins is a teacher in a one room school house in 1867. While trying to defend the children against a Comanche attack she is shot three times in the back and right leg with arrows. Her guardian angel comes to the rescue and saves her. When she wakes up she is no longer in her own time; her guardian angel has transported her into the future.
Detective Jeff Palmer is assigned to Eliza’s case. He is trying to help figure out who attacked her and why she cannot seem to remember anything. As Jeff starts digging deeper he finds that no one can seem to claim Eliza. The only thing he learns is that this mysterious woman seems to be all he can think about. It starts to skew his perception and he starts trying to make her into someone she is not.
Eliza is trying to make her way in this strange new world she has been sent to. With the help of Jeff and his sister she starts to make a new life for herself. But how can Eliza find a way to live in this new world when she
cannot be honest with the people helping her. How can she have a relationship with Jeff that is built on lies?
The story of Trust In Love was really hard for me to get into. I had a really hard time believing a person from 1867 could land in the modern world and just sort of take things in stride. Not to mention how she just sort of takes for granted that she would have to try and become someone else to get by. The story flowed along well, but it was a bit unbelievable, and the main character's reactions to the modern world just did not seem to fit.
