Monique has not seen her ex-love, Vincent, for a year. She has been unable to form a new relationship, hiding behind her friendship with old pal Colby. Vincent hurt her badly with his accusations and name-calling, but she knows in her heart that she wants to see him again.
Vincent has mixed feelings about his old friends Monique and Colby. He is still angry with both of them for their supposed betrayal, yet he loves the beautiful Monique. He forms a plan to get them to Nevada, where he now lives, so that he can exact his revenge and bring Monique back into his life.
Two friends travel to Nevada to reunite with a third. They have not spoken in a year and it could be a time to mend fences or exact revenge.
This is a confusing novel. I liked Monique and Colby, despite the constant references to his depression. The descriptions of the Nevada scenery are very well done and the author is very good at keeping the reader in suspense. Vincent is an unappealing character and I cannot understand Monique’s attraction. The constant references to depression are needlessly repetitive, as there is no further information supplied about the illness. It just seems to be an excuse to explain the two men’s behavior and becomes less and less relevant as time goes on. The Native American lore is very interesting and really should have been developed more. I see this story more as a suspense novel rather than a mystery novel, but it kept me reading to find out how everything turns out in the end.
