TO THE RESCUE
Rating: 4 Cups
Amy has been taking care of herself her whole life. She is a successful novelist, and her heroines are like her, self-sufficient. Now her ex boyfriend is stalking her with the intention of killing her and she has to rely on Jacob to keep her alive.
When a witness to a murder is threatened by the escape of the now convicted murderer, Deputy Marshall Jacob Kissman spirits her off to his ranch in the hill country. He hopes to overcome her reservations about a relationship between the two of them.
This is a very entertaining as well as suspenseful novel. Jacob and Amy are two very strong willed individuals. Neither is willing to give up control, and this keeps them apart. They both have very good reasons for their behavior. Jacob is ex Army and a take charge kind of guy in his work. Amy is the product of numerous foster homes and has only had herself to rely upon since the age of five.
It is fun to see them try to overcome Amy’s barriers and I loved Amy’s dream sequences. She dreams in the very type of romance novel that she claims to dislike, a very good idea on the author’s part. This creates even more erotic tension. Jim and Stella are great characters as is Elaine, Amy’s shrink next door. Ford is a very evil villain for a very good romantic suspense novel.
