TORRID TAROT: DEAD AWAKENING
December 21, 2007
Rating: 4 Cups
Annie Wycliffe’s gift of reading tarot cards helped to get her a job she loved. She enjoyed helping people, but hated giving them any bad news that came along with the reading. One thing she does not relish is the unknown.
Etienne Deveraux is not human, and as a vampire, he does not wish to live. Once again he is alone and feels man was not meant to be alone. That was before he met the gorgeous psychic who created feelings inside he had not felt in a long time.
Annie is on the run. The gypsy psychic now reads tarot cards at an Arizona Renaissance Fair. She worries if her stepfather has found her. The thought sends shivers through her. His last attempt was two years ago when he tried to molest her. She immediately found an escape route. Of late, dreams of a stranger enter her life and her emotions send her into a tailspin. Etienne has his own dilemma he is trying to get over, but once meeting Annie, love spins inside his heart. When she learns his secret, he wonders if she will split from him. He will do anything to safeguard Annie but can two lost souls running from their demons reach out to the other?
Dead Awakening is a sexy explosive read. Annie and Etienne are spellbinding characters. I liked the way Annie wants to find stability in life. It is commendable the way she reaches out to help others, putting herself last. I could almost share in Etienne’s emotions. The reader really gets pulled into his whole being. I love the way he and Annie have this spontaneity once they meet. Mackenzie McKade tells a story that absorbs the reader in this terrific page-turner.
