Michael Vernon has never had to work a day in his life. He is rich, good looking and well educated. He has everything a person could ever possibly need or want but he does not appreciate any of it. He is a selfish brat who believes he is entitled to everything he has and that everyone around him should be grateful to be his friend. He does not realize how lonely he is.
Everything is going wrong for Jarrod Hunter. He has just been fired from another crappy job, he has no money except for the few dollars in his pocket and he has not had a decent meal in weeks. To make matters worse he is about to be kicked out of his apartment. He is terrified of living on the streets.
Jarrod and Michael could not be more different but their worlds are about to collide. When Michael almost hits Jarrod with his car while driving drunk, he refuses to even apologize. Instead he insults Jarrod. Jarrod realizes that the jerk in the Porsche is rich and he sees an opportunity to turn his life around and he is just desperate enough to take it.
To Have and To Hostage is yet another hot and enticing romance from G.A. Hauser. The premise of this story may seem far fetched but the author makes it work. She takes her time introducing the reader to her two heroes so that by the time they meet the events that follow make sense within the novel. However, it still felt like a bit of a stretch to me. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this story. I sympathized with Jarrod from the beginning and later I was surprised to find myself sympathizing with Michael as well.
