Korine is very busy and stressed these days. Her two friends are keeping her on her toes with their growing landscaping business. Dora, her Alzheimer afflicted mother-in-law, takes all of her time at home, and her brother-in-law refuses to believe the extent of Dora’s disease. When Dora gets hold of the keys to Korine’s car and runs down a man at the local nursing home, things spiral out of control.
J.J. is the local police chief and husband of Korine’s friend and business partner Janey. He is worried about his wife’s trip to her family, but does not have time to dwell on it in the middle of a murder investigation and while looking into the acts of a local prankster.
Murder seems to hover over the Shady Acres Nursing home. Several residents have died in a suspicious manner. All of them were on the same medication. Which of the local residents had access and opportunity? J.J. needs all his investigative skills to solve this one before another person is killed.
I really enjoyed this mystery, even though you do not see much of the other Dirty Women. Korine is a great character. J.J. worries about Janey, the murders, and his budget while investigating the crime. The other townspeople are quirky and entertaining and add a lot to the story. The subplot of Sylvester and the Policeman’s Ball added a little humor to the story. This is a good addition to the series.
