Paige Wilder was a small town girl living her dream in the big city. At least this is what she had been telling herself the last ten years. Lately she seems to be seriously rethinking that dream. With her thirties suddenly behind her, life is taking on a whole new concept.

Jude Martin is heir to the Martin Publishing throne. He has traveled the world and been around the block. Taking over his father’s business and getting into another relationship was the last thing he wanted to do. However, he seems to have little control over either situation.

Paige cannot believe that her 39th birthday is already here. She is suddenly forced to admit that her life is not what she thought it was going to be, and allows herself to be dragged to a masquerade party by her best friend Dani. This party becomes the catalyst to everything Paige has been dreaming of and dreading her whole life. She finds her fantasy man, only to be thrust into the most emotional upheaval that she has ever experienced. Can she love this man, while believing in her heart that he is going to hurt her? Can Jude (her dream come true) convince her that their relationship is not just a fantasy doomed to fail?

This story has caused quite a range of emotions for me. I found myself very frustrated with Paige for doubting herself all of the time, but at the same time, I could understand her lack of self-confidence. Being the same age as Paige, I believe that many women our age begin to doubt their roll in life. Thankfully most of us, including Paige, have friends and family that pull us kicking and screaming out of our dark holes and into the light.
