Eleanora Simpson is a nanny by trade, yet she works in a daycare center while in between jobs. When she gets a job working for a single parent, something she has sworn never to do again, she has no idea what she is getting into. When she is away from work, she is with her friends Maggie, Pam and Toni in the club they have started, The WWW Club. Their main goal is weight loss and the first one to drop seven pounds gets three blind dates all set up by the other members. Ellie thinks she has lost her chance at the man she has come to love, but has she?
Jack Bryant is a single father and a popular author for his crime novels. He has two girls and is in dire need of a nanny. Along comes Ellie thanks to his sister Kate. His youngest daughter immediately loves Ellie, or Nora as they call her, and his oldest does not know quite what to make of her. Jack has set certain rules and as soon as they understand each other, things lighten up. When he sets up a date with Toni, he realizes quickly that he has made a mistake.
Ellie and Jack learn what lines they can cross and which ones they can not. They have their moments of awkwardness but soon overcome that. Ellie is also trying to lose weight along with her girlfriends. Their club tries to eat healthy and Ellie brings that over into her job. She has a tough time at first and when tragedy strikes and she ends up with custody of her godson, Rudi, she has more pressing matters on her mind and realizes that being alone is not all that great. She also has an epiphany that takes her by surprise, she is in love with Jack. Her one fear is that she will have to sit back and watch as he finds love with someone else.
I loved this book. I was completely impressed with Ms. Nataro's story-telling and the humor she incorporates. She has a true feel for the story that she tells and makes it completely believable. I was also glad that I understood most of the humor in the book when she refers to British comedy shows. Those one liners had me rolling and I had to share with my British friends who loved it as well. The characters are more down to earth and could be anyone of my friends when it comes to coping with trying to lose weight. I know we have all at one point in time been in the situations these women find themselves. This book gets a huge bravo and well done from me.
