THE VAMPIRE ORACLE: CHALICE
Vampire Erotic Romance
Rating: 4 Cups
Sapphire McKenzie is able to solve crimes and successfully run her life all from the safety of her apartment, with the help of her artificially intelligent computer, Van. Her safe world is about to be shattered though as all the women who have dated her ex-fiance Drake are being gruesomely murdered. Is she going to be Drake's next victim, or his vampiric salvation?
Drake still loves Sapphire, but moved on when she bolted as he was asking her to marry him. Now he is hiding from the police as his alibis are running out for the deaths of his many girlfriends. Desperately he turns to Sapphire for help in finding the killer.
Together Sapphire and Drake must fight the killer and the police, but also the love that remains in their hearts. It is when Sapphire's ex-husband and serial killer uses Drake's family that things come to a head and the fight for their lives and those of humanity is about to happen.
How can you not love a seemingly agoraphobic vampire? While there is no question that this is a scary thriller, and let me mention quickly, a really sex one; there are numerous sub-plots that give this book wonderful texture. The villain has the perfect amount of creepy, and I was appropriately terrified by him. His victim and accomplice just irritated me, again appropriately. The characters communicate wonderfully in love and in hate and the book moves quickly. While the plot is complicated, it flows smoothly. This is another entertaining read by Ms Scott and I look more from her in the future.
