Antonio Welshire truly has no conscience for the actions he commits, which begin in the 11th Century. He lives a simple life with his parents and two adopted sisters- Ann and Elizabeth. However, Antonio has a plan to make everything he ever wanted happen. With no remorse, he murders his parents but allows his sisters to live even though they fear for their own lives. If they try to escape from Antonio, he will most likely murder them.
Because of Antonio’s manipulations, all three go to live with their uncle but that still does not stop Antonio’s madness. He proceeds to rape his cousin, murder her brother and his uncle as well. Eventually Antonio becomes ruler of his uncle’s lands with all the power it entails. Late one night, the devil known as Mestiphles visits Antonio and will give him eternal life for ownership of his soul, which Antonio is all too willing to give.
Antonio soon turns Ann and Elizabeth, including their offspring into vampires and they wreak habit over the land for the next one-thousand years. Only his daughter Samantha has a yearning for a better life away from the bloodshed, including the love she has found with a human man. But Mestiphles has come back with a vengeance and expects due payment from the Welshire family no matter the consequences.
The Vampire Family should send chills down the reader’s spine, but fails to do so. The problem lay with the multiple characters and the on-going drama that became very confusing. I found each character to have no redeeming qualities and their natures were never fully explained, especially that of Antonio who is evil for no reason. From the simple writing to the one-dimensional characters, I found this to be a very confusing and exhausting read.
