Joanna Archer is the Archer of the Zodiac and the Kairos. Half of the Light and Half of the Dark, she is currently fighting on the Light side, but her father is the Tulpa of the Dark. She has assumed the form of her dead sister Olivia.
Hunter is the Aries member of the Light Troop and in love with Joanna/Olivia, who is still in love with her former boyfriend Ben. He is also the armorer for the Light, moonlights as a security guard in Olivia’s father’s casino, and as a sex worker for his own secret reasons.
The war between Light and Dark is about to come to a head. The third sign of the Zodiac foretells that the Kairos’ dormant side will arise. Most think that this is her Dark half, including most of her troop. Some still believe in her, but even she has doubts, after all, she is not even herself anymore.
This novel is packed with action from beginning to end. Joanna is going through a major identity crisis making it impossible for her to let go of the last person who knows Joanna, even if it makes him a target for the Dark. I have to say that I wish I had read the two previous books in the series, because I was lost for the first couple of chapters, but things started to make sense quickly. I really felt for Joanna; she seems totally unprepared for what happens to her and takes it all very much to heart, particularly the incidents with the changelings and the accidentally injured mortal. This series has just acquired a new fan; I really want to see what happens to Hunter, Ashling, Regan, and the Tulpa, as well as Joanna/Olivia. I already bought the first two.
