Jesslyn is a teacher in a private school in Sharjah. She was once in love with the man who is now king of the neighboring country of Sarq. Circumstances forced her to end their relationship but she never forgot him.
Sharif Fehr is now King of Sarq. After Jesslyn left him, he married and has three young daughters, but his wife died and now he is a widower. He has never forgotten his first love or the way she betrayed him, or so he thought at the time.
The King of Sarq’s daughters need help. They are too quiet, withdrawn, and are doing so badly at their boarding school that the headmistress suggested that they do not return. Jesslyn is the perfect teacher to bring them up to speed with caring and affection. Sharif needs Jesslyn also and has needed her since she left him.
This is a very enjoyable and fast reading romance. An exotic location and a tall, dark, and handsome king add to the fun. As is usual in this genre, the two parted lovers had a misunderstanding orchestrated by someone who has other plans for the hero; in this case it is Sharif’s mother. The plight of the three little girls pulls at the heartstrings as does Jesslyn’s inability to have children, which was why she ended her relationship with the king nine years ago. The two have obvious chemistry even when they are angry at each other. Sharif’s mother is absolutely horrible and selfish, but is foiled. I really liked this one.
