Rachel Morgan, vampire and bounty hunter extraordinaire, is the part owner of Vampiric Charms, Independent Runner Service. She lost her beloved and finds it hard to believe he is gone. The bracelet she wears is a constant reminder of him.

Al promised never to harm Rachel or her family. Sent to prison, he has been summoned out to play a dangerous game with Rachel. This is a game he may end up enjoying.

Rachel is enjoying time with her mother choosing Halloween costumes when she is approached by demons. Al, who has an elegant British accent, was supposed to be in prison. His taunting, along with his red eyes, only means he is out for revenge. The dangerous game he and Rachel are about to play could cost her immortal soul as she seeks to uncover the truth behind her loss. As she leaps into her search, she calls upon the help of Jenks and Ivy, to help her find out who has really summoned Al. It appears Rachel is up against something worse demons, and is about to get more than she bargained for to get her answers.

The Outlaw Demon Wails is an engaging read. Once again, Rachel is busy fighting demons as she searches for the truth in Kristen’s death. The reader gets a feel of her loss as she tries to understand everything surrounding it. Even when the demons meet with Rachel, I could feel the intensity. I like how her mother often brings wit to the storyline at just the right time, too. Kim Harrison brings back members into this storyline and the reader is able to watch Jinx, Ivy, and a few other secondary cast members give this story depth. She sprinkles the storyline with drama and force that carries the reader on a whirlwind adventure with just the touch of intrigue to capture the reader and never let go.
