Emma is just starting her new job as a doctor on the air ambulance team. It is a lift for her family, reconstructing their business after a devastating explosion and fire at the previous location.

Rhys Benton’s sister was a good friend of Emma’s and the most seriously injured in the accident. His family has always blamed Emma’s father, despite their claims of innocence. He is very surprised to find Emma on his team.

Two former friends are assigned to work together in the close quarters of an air ambulance service. They are forced to overcome their differences and Rhys is determined to protect Emma from someone who wishes to harm her.

Emma is determined to prove her father’s innocence but does not know how. Rhys is sure that her father’s negligence caused the accident. These circumstances produce an obstacle, but the two work to overcome it, as apparently both have always had feelings for each other. The sub plot of Rhys’ sister Amy and her husband Elliott’s problems increases the tension between the two, while a stalker who poisons a neighbor’s dog under Emma’s care makes Rhys more protective. The author does a good job of combining this medical romance with a little bit of mystery, making it a cut above the usual.
