Bethany Wilder was set to marry the love of her life, but sometimes things do not work out the way we plan. Her fiancé Hagan O’Neal was killed in the line of duty by Josiah Black, a no good horse thief. Now she only wants to be a spinster and find justice for Hagan.
Tyler Brown has just returned home from college and has dreams of being a doctor in the town he once lived in. But first he wants to know why his Uncle Josiah never kept his promise to change his ways and become an honest man. One night after following his Uncle, Tyler has an accident and is blamed for being a horse thief.
Bethany fishes Tyler out of the cannel near her home and saves his life. After Tyler wakes up and it is discovered that he is Josiah Black's nephew, Bethany hatches a plan to finally get her revenge on the man who killed her first love. But she finds herself attracted to the man related to her worst enemy. Tyler and Bethany set out to find Josiah, but what they end up finding is each other.
This is a nice story, but it is a bit dry. I like stories that pull you along and you cannot wait to see what happens next. This story, while ok, does not seem to quite get to a point where your dying to see what is on the next page. The characters are nicely written but again are not characters that you just fall in love with. The book would be ok on a rainy afternoon if you had nothing better to do. It just seems to be missing something, but what that something is I cannot quite put my finger on.
