April Johnson is an average woman with average concerns of love, career, and life. Owner of a budding catering company, she decides to attend her fifteen year high school reunion, just for curiosity’s sake.
Richard Slick, nerd turned hunk, and Marcus Dawson, hunk jock turned actor, are at the same reunion. Both have one thing on their agenda- to find April, since the crush they both had on her in high school is now full-blown love.
April first meets Richard and is awed when this handsome guy confesses his love for her. Somehow, she cannot reconcile that the shy boy she was friends with in high school now wants her, and only her, when he can have his pick of beautiful women. But then April also stumbles upon Marcus. When he too confesses, April is lost. She feels something for both men, yet she knows the right thing to do would be to go with Richard, as she had already given him her word before Marcus popped up. Has she made the right decision?
The one thing that most captured my attention was the sparkling and terribly witty dialogue. April comes up with some sharp repartee, guaranteed to make you smile, or even burst into laughter. I have to admit some moments in the story made me wonder if it was not a little over the top, but the overall round-up makes it a profound and worthy read. There were moments of intense poignancy, when my heart went out to the characters.
