Suzette Joselyn lives to sing. She is looking forward to her upcoming marriage no matter what her Grandmother thinks. She wants to marry for love, not to further her career. Suzette is full of spirit and will need that for what comes next. Her life is about to take a turn she never expects because of the decisions her family makes. Can she find someone to rely on when things go wrong?

Black Lion is the last of his clan to try to get rid of the curse that plagues his family. He has a general idea of what he has to do, but needs help and is not sure who to ask for it. He takes his friend’s place with a traveling show hoping to find not only someone to help him in his quest but also the song which he is looking for even though he would prefer to do something else. Only time will tell if he can accomplish his task.

A one-time meeting in London is the last thing both Suzette and Black Lion expect. Black Lion is surprised at his attraction to Suzette, but lets it go offending Suzette is horribly. Saying goodbye to her grandmother is the worst thing yet. When Suzette leaves England to go find her grandmother, she does not expect to see Black Lion again. She finds it impossible to turn down his proposal of marriage since she is pregnant with no name for her child to claim. She just makes sure that he knows that it is in name only. She wants to go back to England. Suzette has a lot to learn, about not only her new husband, but also the mission he must complete. Will he have to choose between the people he loves and the woman who has claimed his heart?

Choices made stick with these characters but does not slow them down as they live by them. It was intriguing to watch all the pieces fall into place in this historical romance. Ms. Kay has a great series on her hands and I would love to read the other books. It was hard to read about the prejudices that were back in that time but it was very realistic. I do not know much about the American Indians but I have learned a lot by reading books about them, even fiction! I am adding this author to my favorites list because of her great characters and a romance that will have your heart beating faster.
