State Trooper Bryce Johnson hates to let his guard down, but once a week he attends church to let God enter. Now that he is working on a murder case involving a woman he loves, it appears he needs all the faith he can get.
Evie St. Marie has always been the type to break every rule just for fun. After the loss of her husband, after she claims he vanishes one night along the beach, she may find herself locked behind bars for murder.
As a state trooper Bryce Johnson stays on hyper-alert all the time, especially on Evie, after witnessing her point a gun at her husband. Shucker’s Point has never had a murder until scientist Jack St. Marie is killed and his instincts, point to the wife, Evie. He has seen too much not to believe she is the suspect. Evie has always held a certain place in Bryce’s heart ever since high school when he fell in love with her. She believes her husband drowned the night he went walking along the bay. Bryce thinks otherwise. When Evie becomes targeted, Bryce comes to her rescue. The more she is in his company, she wonders how he can believe her to be a killer. Keeping his heart guarded, it appears the strong love he holds for her begins to resurface.
I was completely moved by The Keepers Promise. Each time Evie and Bryce were in close confines, their heart ached for the other as questions about her being the killer strikes at his heart. The emotions are so powerful it just grasps hold of this reader. Penelope Marzec pens a compelling page-turner hard to put down. With engaging characters, heartfelt emotions and intense writing, this is one splendid read that I could read again and again.
