THE INN CROWD
DENISE BELINDA MCDONALD
Rating: 4 Cups
Lorenna has finally found herself a home at the B and B she owns and runs. Her father’s absence and her mother’s multiple marriages and frequent moves made her life less than stable.
Jamie has everything. He is a famous and wealthy actor, but he longs for the love that his parents had all of their married lives. Right now, he just needs to get away.
An innkeeper with an abhorrence of actors, since her absent father was a very successful one, thinks that she is falling in love with a veterinarian, but in reality, he is something very different.
Lorenna is a tough woman who was deeply hurt by her father’s abandonment and her mother’s multiple marriages. She longs for roots and a family. Jamie comes from just the opposite environment; his parents fell in love at first sight and stayed together until the day they died. He falls the same way, but Lorenna is wary of men, especially actors. Jamie worked with her father once and he was so proud of his daughter that he cannot understand her attitude. Their bumpy love story is definitely worthwhile, filled with misunderstandings, sacrifice, humor and danger. The other characters are very quirky; especially Jamie’s flamboyant and surprising friend Butch and his little dog Sarge. The incredibly large and protective Luther and Lorenna's self-centered and marriage obsessed mother Barbara are equally memorable, as is Jamie’s staff. The wild Texas weather is as unpredictable as this enjoyable story and a metaphor for Jamie and Lorenna's story.
