Ten years ago Lauren Henderson nearly lost her life, but although seriously injured, she survived where many did not. However, she did come away with a chunk of missing memory, and an unborn child, with no recollection of its conception.
The past is nowhere to live, and Jean-Luc Fournier has resided there for far too long. It is time to put his memories of Lauren behind him and try to find peace in his life and his work.
Shock can barely begin to describe Jean-Luc’s reaction to seeing Lauren at the children’s hospital where he will be working for the next six weeks. He came to Australia to put her memory to rest, and to work, but finding out she is alive completely rocks his world. Lauren is unaccountably attracted to Jean-Luc in a way she has never felt with another man, and when she learns of his connection to her, she is terrified. Could this be the man who will finally help her regain her lost memories, or will she lose the only thing that has kept her sane and grounded for the last ten years?
This story is a delight to read. The characters are particularly endearing, especially Joe, who really has a heart of gold. While I find amnesia to be slightly overused as a plot line, this story has no trouble holding your interest. The medical language is exemplary and easily understandable, as are the dialogue and storyline, which are fluid and wholly believable.
