Lucia Andahar has a lot of hurt but is happy to be in the small town of Little Top, West Virginia. She can blend in and keep things a secret. She has come to know and love the people here. She has never sought anyone out for a relationship since her dog Hobo keeps her company. But a strange man coming to town will change her life forever.

Jonah Gray Wolf has always known something is special about him. The story of his being brought to a town by a female wolf is one he clings to. Now much older, he seems to have a power to heal the wounded and dying. He is not sure what that means sometimes, but he does know someone might want to use him. He does not want that so he keeps running.

The gift that Jonah has been given did not effect him really until he saved a dying rich man. Now all Major Bourdian wants is to own Jonah. So Jonah keeps running, never really staying for very long in any place, and finds work where he can. He misses his home most of all but knows it is not safe to go back there. Going to West Virginia, he finds a community that is solid and Lucia as well. She might be the one he can settle down with, but not long after his trail leads them to where he is. He hopes it will not cost him his life or Lucia's. Lucia cannot believe that this stranger has come into her life so suddenly. She feels so connected to him but does not understand who he is. Will they be able to work together to figure out what is going on or will everything fall apart?

Ms. Sala does very well with whatever she may write. If it is a short fiction story or a very intriguing suspense story, it does not matter because it will keep your attention. The characters in this book had such heartbreak that had happened to them but they were learning to rebuild. I was so impressed with how Lucia was doing in the small town and thriving again! Jonah was just what she needed. The most compelling thing was the emotions in this story. I could really feel the depth of them. This is one book that makes me want to read more of her work!
