Madison Gregory may be picky, but she knows exactly what she wants in a man, and she is not about to compromise. She let her heart lead the way once, and paid the price dearly; an action she is determined never to repeat.
Wives and babies are perfectly fine as long as they are someone else’s, at least in Theo Petrakis’s opinion. Being an obstetrician gives him an inside track on just how many things can go wrong in a pregnancy and delivery, and he will never ask a woman to go through that for him.
One dance is all it takes for Maddie and Theo to feel the undeniable attraction between them. However, they soon find they are much more than mere acquaintances, but colleagues as well. Time spent together at the hospital only reinforces their desire for each other and their fears as well. Maddie wants children and a husband she can count on, while Theo struggles to reconcile that his head is telling him to run before it is too late, while his heart knows that time has already passed.
This story really makes you wonder how doctors are able to switch modes when they go home at night, because otherwise they would drive themselves and their families crazy. The main characters in this book are fighting that very battle, and it is intriguing to see the insecurities play out as the plot unfolds. Maddie and Theo are a sweet and adorable couple, maybe even too much, but you fall in love with them right away. I also enjoyed that their work is described in a professional and intelligent manner, and is not dummied down in any way.
