THE DIARY OF CASTAWAYS ISLAND
The Wild Rose Press
Rating: 4 Cups
After Lexie Hoskins loses her baby and husband, Tobias, she leaves India and returns to England to be with her mother. Lexie is distraught over the loss of her baby and husband. While traveling on the ship back to England, she encounters a woman with a baby and they become instant friends. When a storm arises, the woman entrusts her baby to Lexie, asking her to care for him. After the ship wrecks, Lexie wakes to find she is rescued by a handsome man on an island.
David Ackerman is a mystery. He rescues Lexie from the storm and brings her to the island for safety but he is hiding a dark secret. David has been exiled to the island. His parents, and especially his brother, Matthew avoid him.
David invites Lexie and baby, Peter, to stay with him. He needs a housekeeper. Skeptical, Lexie agrees. Matthew warns that David is dangerous and Lexie should stay clear of him. Lexie thinks otherwise and seeks to find the truth. For the first time since her husband’s death, she feels protected and plans to show David that by releasing the past, they can possibly have a future.
The Diary of Castaway Island is a poignant story. I could feel the emotions that stirred within Lexie and David. If any two people needed to reach out and be there for each other, it was them. I could share in their pain and sorrow. Tiarie Vaughn-Lazzar writes a most refreshing tale that draws in the reader. She sketches characters that stick until the end making the reader a part of their life and everything revolving around them. This is one satisfying read that I will always remember. It captured my heart.
