Riley Jensen is half vampire and half werewolf with a little extra added. She and her twin Rhoan have never really belonged anywhere, but she fits in as a Guardian with the Directorate, sort of a paranormal cop.
Quinn O’Connor is an ancient vampire descended from the beings the humans indentified as angels. He and Riley have strong feelings for each other so many issues it forced them to part. He is not going to let her go so easily this time.
When a prominent politician is found murdered in his office after an all night sex marathon, the Guardians are called in. The politician is a shifter and no one knows exactly what his killer is, just that she is connected to a group of women known as the Trollops. At the same time, an invisible vampire is targeting the members of his tenth grade class. Rhoan’s soul mate is in that class and may be a target.
All I can say about this book is wow. I did not catch my breath until the end, and what an ending! I have always loved this series and this is one of the best of the bunch. I found myself quickly falling into Riley’s world and had no problem picturing each exciting scene. I do not know which was more exhilarating, the action or the love scenes. The plot will grab you at the first crime scene and you will not be able to put this down until you know who and why. I was introduced to some supernaturals that I never heard of before and several old friends made an appearance. Although this book is part of a series, it can definitely stand alone, and the reader will not be left wondering about pertinent details, so the plot and characters can be enjoyed as they should be.
